Tracking Railway Archives Project - "TRAP"
September 2002 Update

All the archive catalogues that the TRAP Consortium passed to the Public Record Office as part of the Access to Archives (A2A) initiative are now on-line in the A2A database, accessible through ‘www.pro.gov.uk’.
The subsequent phases of TRAP have been slower to get moving than the Consortium planned. There has been a delay waiting to co-ordinate details of the TRAP web site, space for which has been offered by the National Register of Archives, part of the Historical Manuscripts Commission.

Previous TRAP updates: June 2002, September 2001.

RAILTRAP
There is an e-mail distribution list called RAILTRAP which goes to anyone interested in keeping up to date with the project. To subscribe, merely send a blank e-mail to:
RAILTRAP-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
A lot of work is going on behind the scenes with TRAP-1, so the RAILTRAP list does not yet carry a lot of traffic but it does provide an easy way of updating interested parties with any news.

To contact TRAP by e-mail, or to volunteer to help in any way, send your message to:
wrrctrap@wrrc.org.uk

Web Sites
The Public Record Office is at www.pro.gov.uk

Historical Manuscripts Commission is at www.hmc.gov.uk and carries the National Register of Archives (NRA) database. Search on Business, then Railways and follow the link to your chosen company.
